3-star hotels in Bangkok with infinity or rooftop pool

Summary

  • Ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 4: ideal for those who want to stay close to Sukhumvit’s nightlife scene.

  • Chillax Heritage: great for couples who want to stay close to the older parts of Bangkok, Khao San Road, and attractions like the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

  • The Key Premier Sukhumvit: an excellent option for those who want to stay centrally in the modern parts of Sukhumvit in a relatively quiet area.

  • Seekers Finders Rama IV Hotel: a brand new hotel in Sathorn with direct access to the MRT that takes you to major attractions and bustling areas.

  • Chern Hotel: located near Chinatown and Old Bangkok with good access to attractions and MRT, for a bargain.

1. Ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 4

Ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 4 is a great option where you can find real value for money.

This hotel is located on Sukhumvit 4, in Nana, which means that you’re located right in Bangkok’s red-light district and party scene.

It also means that you’re located incredibly conveniently near the BTS Sukhumvit Line.

Most importantly, it offers an amazing rooftop pool with beautiful views over the city.

The pool is located on the 25th floor.

As this is a 3-star hotel, you have to understand that this isn’t the perfect pool you can possibly imagine.

First of all, it’s not a large swimming pool.

Secondly, the pool is only open until 6 pm. After that, the area is transformed into a rooftop bar for its guests.

As you can imagine, enjoying a drink on the 25th floor during the evening right in the heart of the city is quite spectacular with all those skyscrapers in the background.

Now, what about the rooms of the hotel itself?

The rooms are clean and it’s a relatively new hotel.

However, these aren’t the largest rooms.

Nonetheless, it’s a popular hotel for party-goers and young travelers who want to stay near Bangkok’s nightlife scene as well as the BTS.

For those who don’t know what the BTS is, the Skytrain is the most efficient form of public transport in Bangkok to get around the city.

And the hotel provides a free service to bring you to the nearest station.

If you’re not into nightlife, though, I would suggest staying elsewhere.

This hotel is located in: Nana (Sukhumvit)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 4/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 4.5/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 58 USD*

*Prices may vary due to seasonality and demand.

Agoda is part of Booking.com, and is the best option for booking a hotel in Asia. They often offer significantly cheaper options compared to their competitors, including Booking.com. You’ll get the same service that you are used to at Booking.com, but you simply pay less.

2. Chillax Heritage

Chillax Heritage is an incredibly popular hotel near Khao San Road, a party street for young Thai and backpackers.

But as the price of the hotel is not backpacker-friendly, you will find a different type of guests at this hotel.

The swimming pool is of decent size and you do see the skyline of Bangkok in the back.

However, the first thing that you will see when you’re in the pool are the ugly buildings of the older parts of Bangkok, unfortunately.

When you’re outside the pool and laying on a sunbed, you won’t notice this, though.

During the evening, the view is great and the pool is well-lit.

Contrary to the previously recommended hotel, Chillax Heritage is a much calmer hotel, even though it’s located near Khao San Road.

That’s because mainly couples tend to stay here.

When it comes to location, you’re situated near some of the major attractions of the city, including Wat Pho and the Grand Palace.

Unfortunately, you don’t have direct access to the MRT or the BTS.

One of the best things about this hotel is the rooms.

For a 3-star hotel, the rooms are incredible.

The beds are large and comfy, the rooms are spacious, and you have a bubble bath in your bathroom.

When you read the reviews online, the majority of the guests think that this hotel is simply excellent and offers value for money.

If you’re a younger couple and you want to stay in the older parts of Bangkok, where you can find some major attractions, incredibly local and street food and want to explore Khao San Road during the evening, this is an excellent option.

Just keep in mind that you do have to take a short taxi ride to the nearest BTS or MRT station whenever you want to explore other parts of the city.

Overall, for a 3-star hotel, this is an excellent choice with a unique swimming pool that the majority of other 3-star hotels can’t compete against.

This hotel is located in: Khao San Road

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 3.5/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4.5/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 3.5/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 48 USD*

3. The Key Premier Sukhumvit

The Key Premier Sukhumvit is another 3-star hotel in Bangkok with a rooftop pool located in Nana.

Although this hotel is situated in the nightlife area of Bangkok, it’s tucked away in a quieter alley compared to Ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 4, which makes it more accessible to the broader public.

The swimming pool on the rooftop is quite decent, although the view from where the sunbeds are is not as spectacular as when you’re inside the pool.

One of the great things is that the pool is open until 10 pm, and there is a small rooftop bar right next to the pool as well.

The hotel itself is a small boutique, with modern, yet small rooms.

It comes with a small fitness center and a proper breakfast selection and overall, it’s relatively quiet.

Within 5 minutes, you’re already at Nana BTS Station where you can further explore the city.

You’re also located near Terminal 21, a popular shopping mall where you can also find the connection to the MRT (subway).

Overall, this hotel is an excellent choice for those who seek a bit of a quieter area right in the heart of the city with good access to public transport and a great rooftop pool for a 3-star hotel.

Just keep in mind that you’re still located near Bangkok’s nightlife and red-light district scene.

This hotel is located in: Nana (Sukhumvit)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 3.5/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 4.5/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 40 USD*

4. Seekers Finders Rama IV Hotel

Seekers Finders Rama IV Hotel is a brand-new hotel located in Khlong Toei.

While technically still part of Sathorn, you’re conveniently situated right next to Khlong Toei BTS and a short ride to Sukhumvit Road.

On top of the hotel, you can find a nice rooftop pool with a nice view of its surroundings.

As you can expect from a 3-star hotel, it’s not a large pool, but you can perfectly sunbathe here in the afternoon or relax in the shadows with a freshly made cocktail.

Seekers Finders Rama IV Hotel is your typical no-nonsense 3-star hotel with great value for your buck.

The area where this hotel is located is changing rapidly, with modern buildings rising like mushrooms out of the ground.

The quality of the rooms is excellent, and out of all the 3-star hotels that we recommended in this article, it’s the best.

When it comes to location, you have perfect access to the metro.

However, there is not much to do in the area itself, so you always have to take the MRT to another area.

It’s not that you can easily walk to a nightlife area or a great shopping mall.

But the MRT does take you directly to places like Chinatown, The Grand Palace, Asoke (connection to the BTS), and night markets like Jodd Fairs.

If you don’t mind using public transport every time you leave the hotel, this is an excellent choice and the hotel itself offers real value for money.

This hotel is located in: Khlong Toei (Sathorn)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 3.5/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 4/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 43 USD*

5. Chern Bangkok

Chern Bangkok is an excellent hotel located in one of the most interesting areas of Bangkok, namely Yaowarat (Chinatown).

It offers great, affordable rooms, and a decent swimming pool, although it’s not as spectacular as the other four.

So, why did we select this hotel then?

Aside from its excellent price, the hotel is located between Chinatown and the old parts of Bangkok.

You can easily visit some of the major attractions of the city.

You’re also located on Maha Chai Road, where you can find some of the most legendary eateries in the city, including Jay Fai and Pad Thai Thip Samai.

Although you are within walking distance from the MRT, you are located near Wat Saket (Golden Mount Temple), where you can find the boat taxi that takes you to Siam BTS Station.

This form of transport is often overlooked by tourists but is an excellent and cheap option to move around Bangkok.

In the evening, you can explore the nearby Chinatown, where you can find the most street food concentration in all of Bangkok, but it’s also a great area to discover unique bars.

And Khao San Road is also located nearby.

The swimming pool is not as great as the other four hotels, I must admit.

But the affordability, the quality of the rooms for that money, and its great location make it a great option for those seeking a local experience in Old Bangkok in a hotel with a decent swimming pool.

This hotel is located in: Chinatown

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 3/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 4/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 32 USD*

4-star hotels in Bangkok with infinity or rooftop pool

Summary

  • Surestay Plus by Best Western Sukhumvit 2: super nice view from the pool and a central location right in the heart of Sukhumvit, all for a reasonable price.

  • The Quartier Onnut by UGH: is located a bit outside the tourist epicenter where you can find spacious rooms for a very good price and a rooftop pool with a skyline view. Ideal for families.

  • DustitD2 Samyan Bangkok: brand-new hotel with an excellent pool and quality rooms, located in a quieter area while still remaining centrally near Bangkok’s top attractions.

  • Baiyoke Sky Hotel: one of the most iconic buildings in Bangkok, and although the swimming pool isn’t as nice as other hotels, you do have a rooftop bar, rooftop restaurant, and an observation tower for some of the most stunning views on the city. Recently renovated and great location.

  • Jasmine City Hotel Bangkok: perhaps the best location of all the hotels in this article, and a nice large swimming pool is available. The only downside is that the swimming pool itself is mostly in the shade during the day.

6. SureStay Plus by Best Western Sukhumvit 2

For a more impressive rooftop pool, it’s no surprise that 4-star hotels have far better options. But surprisingly, the price difference between 3- and 4-star hotels is not that much.

SureStay Plus by Best Western Sukhumvit 2 is a perfect example that when you pay just a tiny bit extra per night, you get a much better rooftop pool compared to the 3-star hotels.

As the name of the hotel already suggests, this hotel is located right in the middle of Bangkok (Sukhumvit), at Nana to be precise.

The reason why so many hotels with good views and pools are located here is because you are surrounded by skyscrapers but also parks.

Thanks to these parks, your view on the horizon is not blocked.

When you read the reviews on common booking platforms, you’ll notice that the majority of these reviews refer to the amazing rooftop pool.

This is a great indicator that something special is about to wait.

The pool is located on the 9th floor.

As the hotel is tucked away in an alley, there is no noise from the nearby nightlife areas.

You’re located ten minutes away on foot from the nearest BTS Station, but the hotel offers a free ride by golf car.

The rooms are spacious and well-equipped.

Just keep in mind that there aren’t as many restaurants in this area compared to areas like Asoke.

Also, you’re located near Sukhumvit 4, which is the red-light district, although you won’t notice anything from that when staying in the hotel.

This hotel is located in: Nana (Sukhumvit)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 4.5/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4.5/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 4/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 54 USD*

7. The Quartier Onnut by UGH

The Quartier Onnut by UGH is located a bit further from the city center, namely in On Nut.

But I often recommend this area to families or anyone who prefers a larger room and more value for their bucks.

As you’re located near the BTS Station, you can easily reach the city center within fifteen minutes by SkyTrain.

In the meantime, you’re staying at an affordable and comfortable hotel that has a nice rooftop pool.

Because this area is not fully built with skyscrapers, you have a pretty nice view of the skyline in the distance.

Is it the most amazing swimming pool in Bangkok?

No.

But does it offer great views?

Absolutely!

On Nut, itself is a popular area among expats, but it’s not as busy as the more central areas.

You can find plenty of restaurants, though, but not as many as the central areas.

There are bars dotted over the area, but not as many as the central areas.

You get where I’m going at.

I really believe that mostly families will highly appreciate a stay here in this modern hotel full of facilities and and an excellent swimming pool.

This hotel is located in: On Nut (Sukhumvit)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 4/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4.5/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 3.5/5

  • 💵 Price of a room: 44 USD*

8. dusitD2 Samyan Bangkok

So far, most of the recommended hotels are located near Sukhumvit.

But there are so many other wonderful areas to stay, and one of them is Silom.

DusitD2 Samyan Bangkok is located in that area, which means that you have stunning views over the skyline of Bangkok, as well as having great access to both the BTS and the MRT.

Just keep in mind that DusitD2 Samyan Bangkok is not directly located near a station, so you need to use the free tuk-tuk service from the hotel to reach the nearby stops.

Besides, as you’re located more towards the older parts of the city, you are situated near several major attractions.

DusitD2 Samyan Bangkok is a brand-new hotel that simply looks stunning.

Expect a rooftop pool with a beautiful panoramic view on the skyline of Bangkok as well as incredibly comfortable beds and spacious beds.

But for so much quality, you have to pay a bit more than you’ve expected so far from 4-star hotels.

Couples and families will highly appreciate this upscale hotel.

This hotel is located in: Silom

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 4.5/5

  • 🏨 Score of the hotel: 4.5/5

  • 📍 Score of the location: 3.5/5

9. Baiyoke Sky Hotel

Baiyoke Sky Hotel is one of the most iconic buildings in Bangkok.

The hotel desperately needed a renovation and in 2023, that finally happened.

On top of the lower part of this iconic building is a nice swimming pool, but the views are limited.

However, this iconic hotel is home to a rooftop restaurant, an observation point, and a rooftop bar.

All of these offer incredible views over the city.

One of the main conveniences is that Baiyoke Sky Hotel is located near Phaya Thai Station, which is the station that’s connected to Bangkok’s international airport.

But if you want to visit other parts of the city, you can use that BTS Station as well.

The hotel is located in an area called Pratunam, which is known for its markets and shops.

You can also easily reach some of Bangkok’s most iconic shopping malls, making this hotel also a great option for shopaholics.

Thanks to the renovation of the hotel, rooms are once again modern, making it an excellent option for those seeking a real 4-star experience in Bangkok.

This hotel is located in: Pranuam

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 3.5/5

10. Jasmine City Hotel Bangkok

The last hotel that we recommend in the 4-star category is Jasmine City Hotel Bangkok.

This hotel is located right at Asoke, which means you have direct access to both the MRT and the BTS.

When it comes to location, you cannot have it better than this hotel.

Most importantly, the swimming pool is quite large and of excellent quality.

At first glimpse, this would be the perfect hotel you can find, especially for that price.

There is only one catch.

The swimming pool itself is most of the time in the shadows.

If that doesn’t bother you, you will have an excellent time in Bangkok, as this hotel is highly recommended and highly rated.

This hotel is located in: Asoke (Sukhumvit)

  • 🏊🏻 Score of the pool: 4/5
